Dog looking at a pill - the challenge of traditional pet medication

The Pill Problem

For decades, treating a sick pet has followed the same frustrating routine: hiding pills in food, forcing tablets, stressful injections, and expensive trips to the clinic.

Some pets learn to eat around tablets, carefully picking out their food and leaving the medicine behind. Others gag, vomit, or spit pills back up, leaving pet parents unsure if any of the dose was absorbed at all. Senior pets often lose their appetite entirely, turning every mealtime into a negotiation. Pets struggling with weight shouldn't have to consume extra treats or calories just to get the medicine they need. And in urgent moments, when every second counts, injections can become the only option—forcing pet parents into stressful, expensive clinic visits simply because there's no safe, reliable way to administer treatment at home.

The result is missed doses, incomplete treatments, and poor outcomes. Medicine can't work if it never makes it into the pet.

The “Aha!” Moment

Nanos began after Andrew Green nearly lost his dog to anaphylaxis.

Even though epinephrine is the known, life-saving treatment for severe allergic reactions in humans, there is no safe, fast, at-home emergency option made for pets. In that moment, the only choice was to rush to the emergency clinic and hope.

That experience revealed something bigger than a single incident. The problem in pet medicine isn't a lack of effective treatments. It's a lack of modern ways to deliver them.

Today, most pet medications live at two extremes: on one end, pills that are difficult to administer, slow to work, and easy to miss. On the other, injections that force pets into clinics because no safe home alternative exists.

Meanwhile, human medicine has spent decades advancing new delivery modalities designed to make treatment faster, more precise, and easier to administer. That gap became the opportunity.

Andrew began working with pharmaceutical nanotechnology experts and veterinary scientists to apply human-grade molecular delivery systems to veterinary medicine. The goal was simple: bring modern drug delivery to pets.

That work became NanosVet — a new type of Pet Health platform offering fast-dissolving molecular strips that deliver pharmaceutical-grade actives through the mouth's natural absorption pathway, bypassing the digestive tract and enabling rapid, efficient uptake.

When medicine is easy to give, pets actually get the care they need. And that changes everything.
